Seriously, more should be done by gimps at Microsellouts to enable easier installations. Typically fdisk was used to add partitions, etc. I can load windows setup run the promise fast track controller 64 bit and then it tell sme that theres no hard drive. Anyway I hope this will help you somewhat.

The performance isn’t as good anyway so unless you need 3 or more SATA ports, avoid it. I am going insane. When powering up, and the bios detects first the boot drive and then the data drive it calls them VIA’s.

When my computer is starting up sometimes when the sata screen is testing my computer it sees the drive but never when i go into the bios settings do deluxxe see the hard drive please help. Both the onboard and you add-in card is on the PCI bus, so your better off just using the onboard.

Could it be this drive is formatted as a dynamic drive and not a basic drive. Please help i am going crazy. Optical Drive continues to show CD The first one is recognized by Windows Explorer. And it comes from THIS webpage!
I thought the hard discs had packed up but after testing with a usb gadget I know they are still ok when plugged into an outside usb socket. Hoepfully this will help people.

I have no problem booting x86 32 bit windows but whenever i try booting windows 64 my pc just keep restarting before it gets into windows. It will transfer the necessary files to your floppy disk.

I can now use the Promise Controller in IDE mode to run single drives, but that has prompted a question. Thanks so much for this help, it had taken me 2 days of trying to get my A8V-UA board to recognise the SATA hard drive, the most frustrating thign was that neither the azus or fasttrak drivers that came with the ASUS mobo on the support cd worked!
If so, you have to reformat it to get it to work properly.
